Kings XI Punjab choke ends playoff dream

By on May 14, 2017

Kings XI Punjab fell at the final hurdle in their desperate bid to reach the playoffs of IPL 10 as, having been put into bat, they could only muster a paltry 73 against a well-drilled Pune bowling outfit. In truth, this game never really got off the ground and the writing was on the wall for the Kings at the end of the opening Power-play when they registered their worst ever first 6 over performance, finding themselves 32/5. All of the Supergiant bowlers came away with commendable figures, with Shardul Thakur leading the charge with 3/19 from his maximum quota of 4 overs. Pune then made light work of the total, cruising to the requirement within 12 overs, losing just one wicket in the process

Brief Scoreboard

Kings XI Punjab 73 all out (20 Overs)

Rising Pune Supergiant 78/1 (12.0 Overs)

Result: Rising Pune Supergiant win by 9 wickets

Player of the Match : Jaydev Unadkat (2/12 in his 3 Overs)
