Lions Cricket warmly congratulates Coach Nkwe

The Central Gauteng Lions and Lions Cricket would like to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Coach Thabiso Enoch Nkwe for being appointed as the interim Standard Bank Proteas Team Director for the upcoming T20 and Test Series against India. A man much admired by the Board, the teams and the fans.

“Enoch is a top man who leads by example: It has been an honour to have witnessed him work his magic on and off the field and I assure you he will be missed by the Lions cricketing fraternity. On behalf of every Lions family member, I would like to wish him well as interim team director for the Protea’s and offer our support in every possible way!” Says Lions Cricket President Jack Madiseng.

Enoch packs impeccable credentials to lead the team:

  • A St Stithians College graduate and possesses CSA level 4 coaching certificate
  • His domestic cricket career includes – amateur cricketer for Gauteng Strikers, professional cricketer for bizhub Highveld Lions, St Stithians and Yeshiva College coach, Gauteng Strikers Head Coach, High-Performance Head Coach, bizhub Highveld Lions Head Coach and Jozi Stars Head Coach
  • Overseas coaching career includes – Haarlemsche Cricket Club Head Coach and Rood en Wit Haarlem Cricket Club Netherlands.
  • International cricket career includes – Assistant Coach Proteas Women. Assistant Coach of Stellenbosch Kings. Assistant Coach of The Netherlands Team. Assistant Coach of South Africa “A” that played in the following series;  Tri-Series against India A & Australia A, Unofficial Test Series against India A, Tour match against England XI. Assistant Coach of South Africa U19 that played in the following series and a world cup; Tri-Series against Pakistan & Zimbabwe, ICC U19 World Cup in Australia 2012 and England U19 Test & One Day Youth Series.

Some of Enoch’s key achievements include:

  • Head Coach of Gauteng U19 in South Africa: Won the Coca Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week December 2010. Won the Franchise U19 Tournament 2013.  Unbeaten in the Cricket South Africa U19 3-Day Competition in season 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2012/13.
  • Assistant Coach South Africa U19: Won the Triangular Series against Pakistan U19 and Zimbabwe U19 season 2011/12. Won the ODI Series against England U19 in 2012/13 Season. Finished 3rd at the ICC U19 Cricket World 2012 in Australia.
  • As Head Coach of Gauteng Strikers: Joint winners of the Cricket South Africa Senior Provincial Sunfoil 3-Day Competition. Won the Cricket South Africa Senior Provincial T20 Competition 2014/15 Season. Won the Cricket South Africa Provincial 50 Over Competition 2015/16 Season. Won the Cricket South Africa Semi-Professional Coach of the Year Award 2014/15 Season.
  • As Head Coach of bizhub Highveld Lions: Won the CSA 4-Day Competition 2018/19 Season. Won the CSA T20 Competition 2018/19 Season.
  • As Head Coach of Jozi Stars in South Africa: Won the inaugural Mzansi Super League 2018.

“Enoch’s recent cabinet additions include the 2019 runner-up position for the Canada Global T20 as Vancouver Knights Assistant Coach,” concluded Mr. Madiseng.
