Mumbai top table as KKR fall short

After 12 consecutive successful chases at Eden Gardens, Kolkata’s usually efficient batting lineup failed to fire as Mumbai were able to defend their solid total of 173, cementing their place at the top of the IPL league standings. A much changed Mumbai outfit were aided by contributions from Saurabh Tiwary (52/43) and Ambati Rayudu (63/37) and as many Kolkata batsmen failed to capitalize on their starts, excellent death bowling from Hardik Pandya (22/2 from 4 overs) ensured KKR fell 9 runs short of their target.

Brief Scoreboard

Mumbai Indians 173/5 (20 Overs)

Kolkata Knight Riders 164/8 (20 Overs)

Result: Mumbai Indians win by 9 runs

Player of the Match : Ambati Rayudu 63(37)
