Season Two of #GT2019 all set to start with Vancouver Knights facing Toronto Nationals

The biggest carnival of cricket in Canada starts on Thursday, July 25th, with defending champions Vancouver Knights, captained by Chris Gayle, taking on the Yuvraj Singh led Toronto Nationals at the CAA Centre in Brampton.

Both teams boast some of the finest T20 cricketers in their ranks, along with exciting talent from Canada and other Associate nations. The likes of Shoaib Malik, Andre Russell and Rassie Van Der Dussen will be up against Brendon McCullum, Kieron Pollard and Mitchell McClenaghan.

Speaking ahead of their opening game, Vancouver Knights captain Chris Gayle said, “We are excited to start the tournament from where we finished last year. We look forward to facing the challenge from Toronto Nationals, led by the explosive Yuvraj Singh. Obviously, we would like to start the tournament on a winning note in this newly laid out facility in Brampton.”

Toronto Nationals captain Yuvraj Singh was delighted to have made it to Canada. “I am here for the first time, and we as a team are looking forward to playing an exciting brand of cricket,” he said. “Vancouver Knights are a solid unit and we expect this to be a cracker of a game.”

All the 22 games in the tournament will be held at the CAA Centre in Brampton. Organizers have worked hard to create a top-class cricketing infrastructure. The newly laid out drop-in pitches, along with a facility that can host 5,000 fans, are expecting to produce exciting cricket from some of the biggest names in the game.

Gurmeet Singh, the president of Bombay Sports and GT20, was pleased by the effort put in by the management. “We are committed to giving outstanding facilities to the players and providing a memorable experience for the cricket-loving fans of Canada. Our team has worked tirelessly to create this infrastructure. I appeal to the public of Canada to come in large numbers to support and grow this game in Canada.”

Some of the leading corporate houses and institutions, both Canadian and global, have come forward to join hands with the GT20. The city of Brampton is proud to host the games and has come on as an official sponsor of the league. Telecommunications giant TELUS is the official network partner of the GT20, and Turkish Airlines are the official airline partner. Pride Group Enterprises will be responsible for ground transportation.

GT20 Canada has also joined hands with SickKids as the official charity partner of the league.
