Ashleigh Gardner’s five-for guided Australia Women to a massive win in their T20 World Cup Opener

The third match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 concluded just now with Australia Women taking a massive win of 97 runs over the New Zealand Women.

In the match played between Australia Women and New Zealand Women, New Zealand Women won the toss and elected to field first.

Batting first, Australia Women made 173 runs at the loss of 9 wickets that includes Alyssa Healy’s half-century inning of 55 runs off 38 balls. Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry followed Alyssa Healy in the most run scorer lineup for the team with 41(33) and 40(22) respectively.

Lea Tahuhu and Amelia Kerr took three wickets each for New Zealand Women in the game with Jess Kerr and Hayley Jensen taking a wicket each. New Zealand Women conceded four extras to Australia Women while bowling.

With both the openers from New Zealand Women, Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine, being golden-duck in the game, New Zealand Women were all-out at 76 runs in 14 overs and lost the match against Australia Women. Amelia Kerr was the top run scorer for the team in the game with 21 runs off 30 balls. Bernadine Bezuidenhout was the second most run scorer for New Zealand Women with 14 runs off 10 balls.

Ashleigh Gardner took a five-wicket haul in the game for Australia Women with Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown and Ellyse Perry taking 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively. Australia Women conceded seven extras to New Zealand Women while bowling.
