Australia registered the Women’s T20 World Cup Championship on their name for the sixth time

The final match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 concluded just now with Australia Women taking a 19 victory over South Africa Women.

Australia Women won the toss in the final match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, played in Cape Town, and the defending champions of the World Cup elected to bat first.

Batting first, Australia Women made 156 runs in their 20 overs losing 6 wickets throughout the inning. Australia Women were in control from the beginning of the inning which they continued till the end by scaling up the run rate to take it to 156 runs in the 20 overs. Beth Mooney, the top run-scorer for the team, scored a super 53-ball 74 that helped the team post a solid target of 157 runs to South Africa Women. Ashleigh Gardner was the second highest run-scoring player for the team in the match with 29 runs in 21 balls followed by Alyssa Healy with 18 runs in 20 balls.

Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp took two wickets each for South Africa Women with Nonkululeko Mlaba and Chloe Tryon taking a wicket each. South Africa Women conceded 7 extras to Australia Women while bowling.

South Africa, the home team, started the chase with Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits. With Tazmin being out for 10(17), Laura made 48-ball 61 before being out by Schutt. Chloe Tryon scored second most runs for Australia Women with  25 runs in 23 balls. South Africa Women ended the inning with 137 runs at the loss of 6 wickets and lost the match by 19 runs against the defending champions Australia Women.

Megan Schutt, Ashleigh Gardner, Darcie Brown and Jess Jonassen took a wicket each for Australia Women in the match they won by 19 runs.

Beth Mooney was the Player of the Match for her 74*(53).

Ashleigh Gardner was the Player of the Series for her 110 runs and 10 wickets.
