Gujarat Titans find a win over Chennai Super Kings in the league opener

The first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 concluded with Gujarat Titans finding a 5-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings after they chased the target of 179 runs in 19.2 overs with Gill scoring the most runs for Gujarat Titans in the chase with 63 runs in 39 balls.

GT had won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match.

CSK made 178 runs in the first inning losing seven wickets with Ruturaj Gaikwad missing his clas-century by 8 runs as he departed on 92 runs from 50 deliveries in the match. Moeen Ali was the second most run-scoring batter for the team with 17-ball 23 runs.

Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets each for Gujarat Titans in the match with Josh Little finding a wicket. GT conceded eight extras to CSK while bowling.

GT made 182 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 19.2 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. Shubman Gill played the highest innings for the team in batting with 63 runs off 36 balls. Vijay Shankar made 27 runs in 21 balls to be the second-most run-scorer for the team in the game.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar took three wickets for CSK in the match with Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja taking a wicket each. CSK conceded twelve extras to GT while bowling.
