Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced the eight coaches who will head up the four Women Super League T20 squads. The keen interest from top quality coaching staff across all teams and regions lends massive gravitas to the third edition of the league and affirms the passion and commitment that these coaches have for South African Women’s cricket.
Ahead of the WSL 3.0 T20 League Player Draft to be held on Thursday (3 December 2020), with almost 100 players from all nine provinces confirming their interest.
The League will be a strength versus strength domestic competition, designed to raise the standard of South African domestic cricket and give provincial players the chance to measure their skills against the established Proteas, most of whom will be taking part.
The competition will be played in the T20 format with all matches being centralised at the iconic Newlands Cricket Ground with six matches each being played from 14-16 December.
The winners will be the team to come out on top after a full round of league games have been played.
Now it’s time to meet the impressive coaching line up for the 2020 edition:
Adele van Eck (Head Coach)
Shaun Pretorius (Assistant Coach)
Martelize van der Merwe (Head Coach)
Mark Arthur (Assistant Coach)
Angelique Taai (Head Coach)
Richard Hlela (Assistant Coach)
Claire Terblanche (Head Coach)
Neo Sekokotla (Assistant Coach)
“We have assembled a strong team of qualified coaches within our ranks and looking forward to see how they fare in the third edition of this T20 tournament,” commented CSA Senior Cricket Manager Johan Weyers.
“With virtually all our Proteas in the draft we have a wonderful opportunity to measure emerging talent from within our domestic ranks against our established stars and this will achieve our dual objective of making sure that we are represented by the very best players at our disposal at the highest level and that our domestic game achieves growth and strength.”
The WSL3 player draft will be broadcast live on CSA digital platforms (Youtube and Facebook Live). Cricket fans can Follow the WSL T20 Player Draft by using the hashtag #WSLT20.
