Nordic T20 Cup: Denmark and Norway find wins on the first day

The 2023 edition of the Nordic T20 Cup began today with the first match between the hosts Denmark and Norway, the second match between Denmark and Finland and the third match between Norway and Sweden.

In the first match of the tournament, Denmark won the match by 9 wickets chasing the target of 100 runs in 9.5 overs. Norway made 99/9 in the first inning of the match with Chaudhary Akram making the most 36 runs in 50 deliveries for the team. Saud Munir from Demark took five wickets in the match with Surya Anand Nicolaj Laegsgaard, Lucky Ali and Abdullah Mahmood taking a wicket each.

Denmark while making 100/1 in 9.5 overs had Nicolaj Laegsgaard as the highest run-scoring player from the team with 63* runs in 36 deliveries. Kuruge Abeyrathna took a wicket for Norway in the match. Denmark won the match by 9 wickets.

In the second match of the day, Denmark won over Finland by 72 runs. Denmark had posted a 176 runs target to Finland after they made 175/5 in the first inning. Saif Ahmad played the highest innings from the team with 66 runs in 45 deliveries, in the match. Amjad Sher took two wickets for Finland with Raaz Mohammad, Peter Gallagher and Akhil Arjunan taking a wicket each.

Finland made 103/8 in the second inning of the match where Nathan Collins and Mahesh Tambe played the highest knock for the team in batting with 20 runs each from 24 and 28 deliveries respectively. Mahesh Tambe remained not out throughout the game. Oliver Hald and Lucky Ali took three wickets each for Denmark in the match with Nicolaj Laegsgaard and Saud Munir taking a wicket each.

In the third match of the tournament, Norway win over Sweden by 75 runs. Norway made 183/9 in the first inning of the match with Raza Iqbal making the most 64 runs in 42 deliveries. Zaker Taqawi took four wickets for Sweden in the match with Saeed Ahmed taking two and Shahzed Choudhry taking one.

Norway was all-out at 108 runs in 15.4 overs with Abdur Rahman Sudais making the most 42 runs in 38 deliveries in the match. Raza Iqbal took five wickets in the match with Vinay Ravi taking two and Qamar Mushtaque with Muhammad Butt taking a wicket each.
