In a gripping match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9), Karachi Kings faced a formidable defeat against Multan Sultans at the Sultans’ home ground. Led by former Sultans player Shan Masood, who took the reins for Karachi for the first time, the Kings were up against a tough challenge. Adding to the intrigue was former Karachi captain Imad Wasim, now playing for Islamabad United.

For this reason, the Kings, although entering PSL 9 with a formulated squad, are facing backlash and trolls. While their own fans are disappointed with a below-average performance, the opponents’ fans are not missing any chance to share hilarious memes.

What happened in the match?

Opting to bat first, Sultans, under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan, posted a commanding total of 185/2. Reeza Hendricks played a stellar innings, remaining unbeaten at 79*, while Dawid Malan contributed with a solid 52. Despite efforts from Karachi’s Daniel Sams and Mir Hamza, who managed to pick a wicket each, the Sultans’ batting lineup proved too strong to contain.

In response, Karachi’s chase faltered as they struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Shoaib Malik fought valiantly, scoring 53 runs, supported by Shan Masood with 30 and Kieron Pollard with 28. However, Karachi found themselves at 130/8, falling short of the target with an insufficient number of balls remaining.

The metamorphosis of Karachi’s squad couldn’t secure them a victory as Multan Sultans emerged triumphant by a margin of 55 runs. Despite their efforts, Karachi Kings couldn’t overcome the formidable challenge posed by the Sultans in their own backyard, marking a thrilling start to the PSL season.
