KARACHI KINGS MARKS THEIR FIRST VICTORY!

 

The second match of PSL was between two time runner ups Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings with their new captain, Imad Wasim. The debutant skipper Imad Wasim won the toss and elected to bat first.

Khurram Manzoor and Joe Denly opened for Karachi Kings and Anwar Ali for the Gladiators.

Kings lost their first wicket in 5th over, and Joe Denly was sent back to the dugout after scoring 14 runs.

Karachi Kings were scoring slowly but steadily. Gladiators were building up the pressure and the wickets were falling down.

Khurram Manzoor, who was not really in form and was struggling got out after scoring 35 off 39 balls by Anwar Ali.

Karachi innings was built by exceptional knock of Colin Ingram, who scored 41 off 21 balls and was dismissed by Archer. During the partnership of Colin Ingram and Ravi Bopara, it seemed like Kings will score 170+.

But in the very next over, Ravi fell to Anwar Ali as he was caught behind. And Kings started to struggle again.

The new member of Karachi Kings, Shahid Afridi and Skipper Imad Wasim tried to make impact but miserably failed.

Karachi Kings lost 6 wickets in their last 18 balls by scoring only 20 runs. This was the turning point for both Quetta and Karachi Kings.

However, Kings managed to give a decent target of 150 runs.

Karachi had a brilliant start as they dismissed the Danger man Shane Watson in the second over when Quetta had scored just 4 runs.

This doesn’t end here, as Imad Wasim bagged another wicket for Karachi Kings in the next over while Gladiators had still 4 runs on board.

Huge blow came to Gladiators chase when Kevin Pietersen was dismissed on the very first ball of Tymal Mills after scoring just 6 runs.

Rilee Rossouw tried play a sensible knock as he had to save the game for his team but couldn’t longer on the crease and was dismissed by the Karachi King’s Skipper Imad Wasim, who celebrated his wicket in Ronaldo style.

Quetta fans hopes were still high as their skipper Sarfaraz came to bat. But unfortunately it didn’t last longer. The Gladiators captain got out on Shahid Afridi’s ball. He went for appeal but the DRS showed the ball hitting the bails.

At this stage Quetta had lost 5 wickets for 66 runs only. In the thirteenth over, fans got to see the magical side of Lala. On Muhammad Irfan Jr’s ball, Shahid Afridi took a stunning catch and dismissed Umar Amin.

The match once again got interesting and seemed to be slipping from Karachi Kings hand when they couldn’t break Nawaz and Hassan partnership.

Nawaz took every chance to hit hard but was dismissed by Muhammad Amir after scoring 30 off 20.

Quetta Gladiators required 37 off last 3 overs that they failed to achieve.

Quetta Gladiators finished at 130 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs and Karachi Kings marked their first victory against Quetta Gladiators in the history of Pakistan Super League.

Imad Wasim had a dream start of his captaincy career.
