PCB Chairman Confirms Babar Azam Will Continue as Captain as Long as He Wants

On Monday, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) management committee, Najam Sethi, stated that Babar Azam would continue to captain the team for as long as he wants. He emphasized that there was no pressure on the 28-year-old from any side and that the decision to continue as captain was entirely up to him.

Sethi cleared the air regarding any threat to Babar’s captaincy and praised him as the top star of Pakistan cricket. He also appreciated Babar’s support for the board’s decision to try out younger players against Afghanistan.

“There is no threat. Our established skipper Babar will remain the captain of our national squad until he himself decides whether he wants to leave captaincy of any one format or all three formats or he wants to remain the captain in all. It will totally be his call”

“I respect Babar a lot; he is our top star. I am very happy that he supported our decision to try youngsters against Afghanistan”,

Babar Azam, along with Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, has been rested for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
