Virat Kohli’s ODI unceremonious sacking; BCCI receiving criticism

Following the unacknowledged sacking of Virat Kohli as ODI captain – after a gap of almost 24 hours – the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter and posted an appreciation tweet for the 33-year-old and shared some videos talking about his contribution as skipper of the side in the ODIs.

The BCCI first effectively announced the relinquishing of white-ball cricket leadership position to Rohit Sharma without acknowledging Virat Kohli in their statement.

While some fans have been utterly disgusted with the way the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ended Kohli’s ODI captaincy in an unceremonious manner as he deserved more respect, some claim that it was the need of the hour.

In the new cycle of the ICC world test Championship, Rohit Sharma will take over from Virat Kohli as has also been named as  India’s Test vice-captain from the 18-member squad selected by the All-India Senior Selection Committee in the upcoming three-match series against South Africa

The BCCI’s surprise move of sacking Virat Kohli is facing a lot of criticism as the fans are expressing their anger on the ruthless sacking of India most successful batman without even informing him. In his statement in September 2021, Kohli announced that he will hand over his captaincy after the 2021 T20 World Cup and mentioned his interest in ODIs captaincy. However, it is obvious that ex-skipper Kohli didn’t resign from  ODIs captaincy as he was sacked by BCCI from his role
