T20 World Cup squad might change; fans mixed emotions

Pakistan Cricket Board announced its squad for New Zealand and World Cup T20 on September 2021 which included:

Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Asif Ali, Sohaib Maqsood, Azam Khan (wk), Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hasnain. Usman Qadir, Shanawaz Dahani and Fakhar Zaman will be reserved.

But unfortunately, Sarfraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik’s names are dropped from the squad, and fans got disappointed. Twitter users lashed out at PCB and took the internet by storm by criticizing the squad.

Pakistan cricket fans went wild after seeing the selection of Khushdil Shah, Asif Ali, and Azam Khan for the World Cup squad. How can these Twitter trollers stay behind?

Netizens started tweeting and comparing the stats of the deserving players. Fans discussed that during the National T20 Cup, Sohaib Maqsood, Khushdil Shah, Azam Khan, and Asif Ali failed to put up an impressive performance and yet they are selected. The tweets for the change in the T20 World Cup squad were trending #1 on Twitter for days.

Shahid Afridi hinted that PCB might make changes in the squad. He claimed,

“I have received some information and PCB is very likely to announce another squad for the upcoming World Cup with some changes. I am definitely surprised by the selection. I don’t understand the selection of two to three players in the squad. I also don’t understand how we could have left a couple of names out of the squad either.”

Fans are still hopeful that PCB will make some genuine changes in the squad as they play their very first match against India on 24 October 2021
