Women’s T20I Pentangular Series in Spain 2022: Big Win for Italy while two matches got abandoned on the first day

The Women’s T20I Pentagular Series in Spain 2022 started today on 11 November 2022 and will run till 14 November 2022.

Today, the first day of the series had three matches scheduled; Spain Women vs Italy Women, Isle of Man Women vs Sweden Women and Italy Women vs Norway Women in order. But, the first two matches got abandoned by rain and a wet outfield. The third game happened successfully where Italy Women beat Norway Women by a large margin of 108 runs.

In the match between Italy Women and Norway Women, Italy Women won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Italy Women could add 146 runs on board at the loss of 4 wickets playing full overs. Dilaisha Nanayakkara was the high scorer for Italy today as she made 33 runs off 31 runs. Chathurika Mahamalage, Sharon Withanage, Kumudu Peddrick, Methnara Rathnayake and Emilia Bartram also contributed 31, 26, 10, 11 and 8 runs respectively, in the game.

Norway Women used six bowlers in the game to bowl against Italy Women. Pooja Kumari, Farial Safdar and Ayesha Hasan were the wicket-taking bowlers for Norway in the game with 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively for themselves in the game. Norway conceded 27 extras to Italy in the game.

Coming to bat second in the game to chase a strong target of 147 runs, Norway Women started with Ayesha Hasan and Farial Safdar in the second inning. But, both the openers couldn’t add a run to the team. While Ayesha Hasan was out for no runs in 22 balls, Farial Safdar got a diamond duck in the game. Ramya Immadi was the highest-scoring Norway batter in the game for her 9 runs off 21 balls. Bijeyata Kumari, Hina Hussain and Mishbah Ifzaal made three runs each. Pooja Kumari made 2 runs. Sagana Kunaratnum and Lopa Mudra added a run each. Mirab Razwan got out for 0 runs off 3 balls and Saira Ifzal was the only not-out batter from Norway Women in the game.

Italy Women utilized seven bowlers against Norway Women in the game. Kumudu Peddrick, Dilaisha Nanayakkara, Sharon Withanage and Dishani Samarawickrama took 3, 2, 1 and 1 wickets respectively in the game. Italy conceded 16 extras to Norway Women while bowling.
