
Bermuda national team went to Florida for a T20 tournament named the 2023 President Cup MCL T20. The team already played two matches and had a good play in the tournament so far, but the team have stepped back from the T20 tournament in Florida after injury scares them for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Sub Regional Qualifier 2023 (details).
All-rounders Matty Watson and Charles Trott got hurt in the warm-up campaign of Bermuda in Tampa, Florida. Bermuda didn’t find adequate facilities for their players after they got hurt as a result the team stepped back from the T20 tournament in Florida.
Matty Watson who was injured in the shoulder and Charles Trott who was injured in the ankle did not feature in either of the two matches Bermuda played at the 2023 President Cup MCL T20 because of the injuries sustained during training.
Bermuda, who played two matches already in the T20 tournament registered two big wins with a nine-wicket win against Rebels CC in their first match and a 116-run win over Triad Dragons in their second match.
The BCB executive director Cal Blankendal confirmed the decision to withdraw from the tournament. As a result, the match between Bermuda and Tampa Tigers won’t happen. The BCB executive is also looking for possible replacements.
Bermuda will visit Argentina for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Sub Regional Qualifier 2023 which will begin on 25 February 2023, before the Sub Regional Qualifier they will play a 2-match T20I series with Argentina (details) as a part of the preparation for the Sub Regional Qualifier to start on 25 February 2023.
