Afghanistan batsman Sediqullah Atal has been included in the MI Cape Town squad ahead of the 2025 SA20 season. He will replace England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. This is a crucial addition to the team as they look forward to a stronger performance in this year’s tournament.
MI Cape Town, led by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, was at the bottom of the table in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The team, under head coach Robin Peterson, is keen to change their fortunes. With Atal and Proteas batsman Reeza Hendricks on board, there is hope for a better season.

The revamped MI Cape Town team has a good mix of local and international talent, with Kagiso Rabada, New Zealand pacer Trent Boult, and South African rising star Dewald Brevis. It is well-prepared to take on the reigning champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape and other contenders with key players like Rassie van der Dussen and George Linde.
