The highly anticipated return of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 is set for May 17, after a brief suspension caused by escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. This decision has been met with excitement, as cricket fans prepare for the return of thrilling action on home soil. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, took to social media to confirm the news, stating that PSL 10 resumes from exactly where it left off. “Let the aura take over as we unite and celebrate the spirit of cricket,” Naqvi said, extending his best wishes to all participating teams ahead of the season’s resumption.
What Led to the PSL Suspension?
The PSL’s suspension came after a serious security scare linked to an Indian drone incident near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The PCB initially considered moving the remaining matches to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for safety reasons. The dramatic incident raised concerns over the safety of both domestic and international players. However, after regional tensions eased and a ceasefire was agreed upon, the PCB made the decision to host the remaining matches in Pakistan.
Despite the earlier delay, the PCB maintained its stance of keeping politics out of the sporting arena. Chairman Naqvi reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to the game, stating that, “The PCB has always stood by the position that politics and sports need to be kept apart.” The resumption is now contingent on the safe return of foreign players, who were temporarily evacuated due to the security concerns. Franchise teams are working tirelessly to ensure their return in time for the remainder of the season.
PSL 10 Resumes: What to Expect
The remaining PSL 10 matches will take place between May 17 and May 25, culminating in a grand final. The Quetta Gladiators, who are currently leading the points table, have already secured their playoff spot. They are closely followed by the Karachi Kings and defending champions Islamabad United. The Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs, but the Multan Sultans have been eliminated from the tournament.
With no broadcasting issues expected, the PCB is optimistic that the final matches will be seamlessly broadcast, keeping fans connected to the action. As cricket returns to Pakistan, the excitement is palpable, with fans eager to see the league reach its thrilling conclusion.
