As shocking as it sounds, Pakistan’s cricket captain, Babar Azam, is in trouble for allegedly body shaming his teammate, Azam Khan, after a practice session in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup opener against the USA.
On the other hand, Azam Khan, son of ex-cricketer Moin Khan, happens to be the talk of the town ever since being drafted into the Green Army ranks for the T20 World Cup. He soon became a target of criticism after a below-par outing against England in a series before the showpiece event.
During a practice session leading up to Pakistan’s upcoming ICC event collision, Babar Azam reportedly gave the unfitting nickname ‘Gainda’ to Azam Khan, which many feel derogates people who are conscious about their weight. A video clip of the incident has emerged and gone viral on social networking sites, making the fans very unhappy.
As it went viral on social media, the fans were disappointed at Babar Azam’s so-called heinous acts, calling his actions all the more for respect and professionalism within the team. His actions overshadow Pakistan preparation for their World Cup opener match against the USA, taking place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
In all this drama, Pakistan keeps alive its hopes of T20 World Cup glory. Already victorious in 2009 and with a place in the 2022 final, the Babar Azam-led side has another big performance on the global stage to target once again.
