Bahrain put on a cricketing clinic in Kigali, sealing the 2025 Rwanda Tri-Nation T20I Series title with a crushing 94-run win over Malawi at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium. The final showcased Bahrain’s depth and versatility, as they dominated in all departments to cap off a perfect campaign.
Asif Ali emerged as the game-changer, starring with both bat and ball to earn the Player of the Match award. His explosive 46 off 28 deliveries and clinical bowling figures of 2/18 underscored Bahrain’s superiority on the night.
Bahrain’s Batting Sets the Tone
Sent in to bat, Bahrain quickly shook off any pressure of a final. After a cautious start, Prashant Kurup (38 off 41) laid the foundation before Fiaz Ahmed (32 off 20) and Sohail Ahmed (52 off 26)* upped the tempo. But it was Asif Ali’s punishing strokeplay—featuring four sixes—that took Bahrain to an imposing 189/3 in 20 overs.
Malawi Buckles Under Pressure
In reply, Malawi’s chase never really got going. While captain Sami Sohail offered brief resistance with a quick 43 off 26, the rest of the lineup faltered under scoreboard pressure.
Bahrain’s bowlers kept their lines tight and energy high. Rizwan Butt’s 3/7 dismantled the lower order, while Ali Dawood and Shashank Shukla chipped in with disciplined spells. Malawi were bundled out for 95 in 17.3 overs, handing Bahrain a victory margin of 94 runs—the most emphatic of the tournament.
