BCCI Denies Asia Cup Exit Speculations Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

Amid swirling rumours and heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan, the BCCI denies Asia Cup exit claims that made waves across cricket media on Monday. Contrary to multiple reports suggesting that India had opted out of both the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has firmly dismissed the speculation. Officials described the withdrawal reports as completely baseless and not reflective of any internal discussion.

The story gained traction as tensions rose in the region following a recent terror incident in Jammu & Kashmir, sparking talk of cricketing fallout. However, BCCI denies Asia Cup pullout talks altogether. Devajit Saika, the BCCI Secretary, addressed the confusion, confirming that no such agenda has been discussed at any level within the board, and no message was relayed to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Focus remains on IPL and bilateral series as BCCI denies Asia Cup exit claims

At present, the board’s attention is on the IPL 2025 season, as well as preparing for upcoming bilateral series against England. Saika made it clear that BCCI denies Asia Cup exit claims are a distraction from the cricketing calendar already in motion. “These reports are entirely false. No official communication has been made to the ACC regarding withdrawal from any Asia Cup event,” he stated.

The Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup is scheduled for next month in Sri Lanka, while India is set to host the Men’s edition in September. Despite the tense backdrop and speculation that political developments could affect participation, the BCCI insists all plans remain unchanged, for now.

Officials added that any decisions regarding participation in ACC tournaments, especially those involving Pakistan, will be made in consultation with the Indian government. Until then, the board has urged the media to avoid reporting unverified claims.
