David Warner, the veteran Australian cricketer and captain of Karachi Kings, has confirmed that he will be available for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10. After a brief suspension due to escalating tensions in the region, Warner is fully committed to returning to Pakistan and resuming his campaign with the Karachi Kings, signaling a major boost for the team.
Warner, who has been a key player for the Kings this season, expressed confidence in the league’s restart and reassured fans that he would honor his commitment to the tournament. Alongside him, fellow Australian cricketer Ben McDermott is also expected to rejoin the squad as the PSL 10 season resumes.
PSL 10: Restart Set for May 17 After Tensions Ease
The PSL faced a temporary suspension after rising security concerns, including a drone-related incident near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which led to the evacuation of several foreign players. This raised doubts about the league’s continuation, and there were initial talks about moving the remaining matches to the UAE.
However, the situation improved after a ceasefire agreement was reached, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave instructions for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to proceed with the tournament on home soil. Following these developments, the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed via social media that PSL 10 will resume on May 17, with the final scheduled for May 25.
How are Karachi Kings and David Warner doing in PSL 10?
Warner’s confirmation to return and play is a crucial development for both the tournament and the Karachi Kings, who are currently sitting in second place with 10 points, having won five of their eight matches.
While Warner’s debut season with the Karachi Kings has been challenging, his presence remains invaluable. In his eight appearances, he has scored 164 runs at an average of 20.50, although his strike rate has been impressive, standing at 150.45. Despite his personal struggles with the bat, Warner’s leadership and experience will be key for the Kings as they push towards the playoffs.
