Dubai Capitals have officially declared their intent to dominate the 2025 edition of the Guyana Global Super League (GSL), unveiling a bold and balanced squad packed with international experience, T20 specialists, and rising stars.
Coming in as reigning ILT20 champions, the Capitals are ready to shift the gears from the deserts of Dubai to the tropical intensity of Guyana. With matches running from July 10 to 18 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, the Capitals are clearly out to reinforce their global supremacy.
At the core of their firepower stands Rovman Powell, the ex-West Indies T20 captain and ILT20 Final MVP. Known for his fearless hitting and explosive leadership, Powell is expected to spearhead the Capitals’ batting engine and set the tone with his aggressive brand of cricket.
The Capitals have surrounded Powell with a dynamic cast. Kadeem Alleyne, a proven domestic performer with raw power, and Dominic Drakes, the Caribbean left-arm speedster, bring regional flavor and impact potential. Drakes’ ability to swing the new ball and strike at the death gives the squad vital flexibility.
Adding international edge are names like Keshav Maharaj, the veteran South African spinner expected to exploit Providence’s spin-friendly surface, and Niroshan Dickwella, Sri Lanka’s aggressive wicketkeeper-batter, known for his street-smart T20 approach. Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal provides middle-order resilience, while the pace department gains sharpness with Pakistan’s Farhan Khan and Canada’s Kaleem Sana-Ur-Rahman.
Local UAE talents like Zeeshan Naseer and emerging players Aryaman Varma and Ibrahim Masood reflect the Capitals’ emphasis on nurturing a balanced squad with a global footprint.
The action kicks off with a blockbuster opener on July 11 as the Capitals face off against Australia’s Hobart Hurricanes XI. The rest of the tournament features elite competition including the Rangpur Riders (Bangladesh), Central Stags (New Zealand), and hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors, ensuring top-tier cricket across the board.
