The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have etched their name in the annals of Indian Premier League (IPL) history with an awe-inspiring display of fiery batting prowess. In a thrilling encounter against the Delhi Capitals, KKR unleashed an onslaught, amassing a formidable total of 272 runs for the loss of seven wickets, rewriting several records in the process.
While KKR fell short of eclipsing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record for the highest total, their achievement now stands as the second-highest team total in IPL history. Earlier in the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad had set the bar high with a monumental 277 against the Mumbai Indians, not only securing the highest team total of the season but also in the league’s history.
KKR’s monumental score of 272 not only cements their position as the second-highest in IPL history but also marks a significant milestone in the ongoing season. Spearheaded by Sunil Narine’s explosive 39-ball 85, which now stands as the highest individual score of IPL 2024, KKR’s batting lineup delivered an extraordinary performance.
Every KKR batter showcased red-hot form, contributing substantially to their third consecutive victory, which not only bolstered their net run rate but also propelled them to the top of the table with six points. Their commanding victory, by a substantial margin of 106 runs against the Delhi Capitals, solidifies their position as frontrunners in the tournament.
This feat holds particular significance as it marks the first time in the illustrious 17-year history of the IPL that KKR has won their first three games of the tournament. With momentum firmly on their side, KKR now sets its sights on their upcoming clash against the Chennai Super Kings on April 8, aiming to maintain their stellar form and continue their triumphant campaign in IPL 2024.
