Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a crucial victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in their latest Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Saturday, April 15. Virat Kohli was the star performer for RCB, top-scoring with a half-century off just 34 balls and earning the Player of the Match award. However, Kohli’s post-match conduct raised eyebrows, as he ignored Delhi Capitals’ advisor and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly during the customary team handshake. Ganguly also seemed uninterested in greeting Kohli, and the duo avoided any interaction. Kohli ignores Ganguly is now trending on internet.
There have been rumors of a rift between the two former Indian captains since Ganguly was the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) when Kohli was stripped of the Indian cricket team’s captaincy. Their contradicting statements after the incident fueled further speculation of a fallout between the two during Ganguly’s tenure.
After the match, Kohli first shook hands with Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting and engaged in a brief conversation with him. Meanwhile, Ganguly walked past the duo without shaking hands with Kohli, and the latter did not make any effort to stop him. Kohli proceeded to shake hands with Ajit Aagarkar.

Despite the off-field drama, Kohli’s red-hot form continued as he scored his third half-century in four innings in IPL 2023, helping RCB post a challenging total while batting first at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Delhi’s top-order once again failed, but an impressive fifty from Manish Pandey kept them in the game. On his IPL debut, Vyshak Vijaykumar took three wickets for 20, and Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets to restrict Delhi to 151/9.
