Noor Ahmad’s Spin Masterclass Leads Texas Super Kings to Resounding Victory
Texas Super Kings showcased their growing dominance in the Major League Cricket 2025 season with a comprehensive 57-run win over the Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Oakland Coliseum. A stellar four-wicket haul from Noor Ahmad and strong contributions with the bat secured their second straight triumph in style.
Super Kings Post a Strong Total Despite Early Blow
Batting first after losing the toss, Texas lost skipper Faf du Plessis cheaply, but the setback was quickly overcome. Devon Conway looked in fine touch, partnering with emerging talent Saiteja Mukkamalla to add a fluid 57-run stand within eight overs.
Just as the Knight Riders began to claw back through Tanveer Sangha’s twin strikes, Daryl Mitchell and Shubham Ranjane stabilized the innings. The real acceleration came in the final overs, courtesy of Donovan Ferreira, who partnered Mitchell to add a rapid 61 runs off just 29 balls. Their late flourish lifted Texas to a formidable 181/4.
LAKR Falter Against High-Quality Bowling Attack
In reply, the Knight Riders never truly found their footing. Adam Milne’s fiery new-ball spell removed Andre Fletcher early, while debutant Stephen Wiig impressed with the ball, dismissing danger man Alex Hales after a brief counterattack.
The real turning point came when Noor Ahmad entered the fray. The Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner dismantled the heart of LA’s lineup, removing Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in back-to-back deliveries. His spell of 4/25 not only broke the chase but firmly tilted the match in Texas’ favor.
Lower-order resistance was minimal, and Milne returned to mop up the tail. LA Knight Riders were bowled out for 124 in 17.1 overs, ending a one-sided affair.
Noor Ahmad Named Player of the Match
Noor’s mesmerising spell earned him the Player of the Match award and moved him up to second in the MLC 2025 wicket-takers chart. His accuracy and deception continue to trouble opposition batters and serve as a key asset for Texas.
