West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor won’t play in the first two Twenty20 Internationals versus New Zealand. This results from an injury she suffered on September 25 at North Sound while batting in the third ODI. Sheneta Grimmond will fill Taylor’s place for the first two T20Is. After getting hurt on Monday, Taylor drew out on 51. In September 2020, Grimmond last participated in a T20I match.
For the Trinbago Knight Riders, 24-year-old off-spin bowling all-rounder Grimmond was in superb form. They took home the first-ever CPL women’s championship. She had a six economy rate while claiming three wickets in as many games. Before the WCPL, Grimmond had a 5.36 economy rate and four wickets in five games for the women’s sixty. In the West Indies match, she will assist fellow off-spinners Karishma Ramharack and Hayley Matthews.
Lead selector Ann Browne-John stated that “this five-match series forms part of the team’s preparation for the 2018 T20 World Cup.” Stafanie Taylor, who was injured while batting in the third CG United ODI, has sadly been ruled out of these two games. Sheneta Grimmond, an offspinner who had a strong WCPL performance, is back in the squad for the first and second T20Is. We believe her offsprin will help the other offspinners, Hayley Matthews and Karishma Ramharack, play even better.
For both teams, these five games are an essential part of their preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. South Africa will host the tournament from February 9 to February 26, 2023.
The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound will serve as the location for all five T20Is. The prior ODI series was won by New Zealand by a score of 2-1.
