This year, the prize money for the game has totaled an astronomic figure of $11.25 million, making this year’s edition the largest ever.
The champions of the T20 World Cup 2024 will not only receive the long-awaited trophy but also take home a handsome amount of at least $2.45 million, the highest ever in the tournament’s history. This has been a very hefty increase, and it shows how popular and influential the game format T20 has become globally.
The escalation in prize money gives a clear statement from the International Cricket Council: this is to reward the extraordinary talent and dedication of cricketing nations. With the champions set to take home almost $850,000 more than the champions of the previous edition, the stakes have never been higher.
But the generosity doesn’t stop there. The runners-up are set to claim a prize of at least $1.28m, while the losing semi-finalists will each pocket $787,500, offering ample incentive for teams to strive for excellence throughout.
Apart from the top contenders, the prize distribution would cataract down to assure all the 20 teams participating in the T20 World Cup 2024 of recognition and reward sharing. Financial incentive spread would be from the Super Eights through the first-round matches, which would equally underline inclusion and equality espoused by ICC.
