Ruthless Super Kings Humble Orcas with Bowling Masterclass
Texas Super Kings delivered a bowling performance for the ages as they rolled over the Seattle Orcas for just 60 runs—the lowest total in Major League Cricket history—to clinch a dominant 93-run victory in Match 7 of the MLC 2025 at the Oakland Coliseum.
Pacers Set the Tone, Orcas Never Recovered
Chasing 153, the Orcas were immediately pushed onto the back foot. Nandre Burger and Zia ul Haq ripped through the top order, leaving the scoreboard in shambles at 23/5 by the end of the powerplay.
Burger’s searing pace and Zia’s control saw both pick up three wickets each, setting the stage for the spin wizard Noor Ahmad to take over. The Afghan left-armer wasted no time, striking with his very first delivery and removing two dangerous middle-order batters in his opening over.
Noor Seals It, Orcas Fold in 13.5 Overs
With scoreboard pressure mounting and wickets tumbling, the Orcas had no answer to the relentless attack. Noor Ahmad’s flight and guile added three more wickets to his season tally, matching Burger and Zia with 3 wickets apiece.
The Orcas were all out for 60 in 13.5 overs, an ignominious end to what had begun as a promising outing.
Stoinis and Middle Order Anchor Super Kings
Earlier, Seattle won the toss and chose to bowl under overcast skies. The decision paid dividends early, with both Super Kings openers falling cheaply. Tight lines from Obed McCoy, Harmeet Singh, and Jasdeep Singh kept the runs in check, even as wickets fell at regular intervals.
However, Marcus Stoinis unleashed a brief but brutal assault, smashing 28 off 16 balls, including four towering sixes, before falling to a superb boundary catch.
Late fireworks from Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane gave Texas a valuable boost, pushing their total to 153/6, which turned out to be more than enough.
What’s Next?
With three consecutive wins, the Texas Super Kings now head to Dallas for a blockbuster clash against the in-form San Francisco Unicorns on Friday. Meanwhile, the Seattle Orcas will be desperate to bounce back when they face MI New York on Wednesday.
