In an exciting announcement, Texas Super Kings have revealed their formidable lineup for the upcoming MLC 2023 season. Headlining the team are renowned cricketers Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Ambati Rayudu, and David Miller, among others, all set to don the Super Kings’ jersey. Leading the team from the sidelines will be the esteemed coach, Stephen Fleming, who also holds the reins for Super Kings in the IPL and SA20.
Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu to reunite with Fleming
This reunion will see Conway, Santner, and Rayudu reunite with their trusted mentor, Fleming, who guided them to victory in the IPL 2023 just last month. Of notable significance is Rayudu’s inclusion, marking his first foray into a franchise league outside of India since his retirement from the IPL. Conway, who left a lasting impression in the rain-affected three-day final, earning the Player of the Match award for his swift 47 off 25 balls, played a pivotal role in CSK’s triumphant chase of 171 runs in just 15 overs at Ahmedabad. Adding to the Super Kings’ strength is the return of Dwayne Bravo, who transitions from his role as Chennai Super Kings’ bowling coach to a player for the MLC competition.
Joining the IPL champions in their quest for success is Australia’s dynamic seam-bowling all-rounder, Daniel Sams. Sams, having recently decided against a state contract with New South Wales, seeks greener pastures in the franchise T20 circuit.
Furthermore, the Super Kings have secured the talents of Gerald Coetzee, the standout bowler of the inaugural SA20 season. Coetzee, who emerged as the highest wicket-taker for Jo’burg Super Kings with an impressive tally of 17 scalps, will now bolster the Super Kings’ bowling attack in the MLC.
During the MLC draft held in March, Super Kings made strategic acquisitions, signing former international players Sami Aslam and Rusty Theron. Additionally, the team welcomed the promising nineteen-year-old Saiteja Mukkamalla, who is currently representing the USA squad in the ODI World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.
Assisting head coach Fleming in shaping the team’s strategy and performance will be the experienced duo of Eric Simmons and Albie Morkel. Both Simmons and Morkel have previously worked alongside Fleming during their time with Jo’burg Super Kings in the SA20, where the team narrowly missed out on a place in the final.
The highly anticipated MLC 2023, a six-team extravaganza, is scheduled to kick off on July 14th and will run until July 31st at the renowned Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas. The Super Kings will commence their campaign with an enthralling clash against the Los Angeles Knight Riders, setting the stage for an exhilarating tournament filled with cricketing brilliance.
