Titans lift the title of CSA T20 Challenge for the seventh time: Beats Dolphins by 4 wickets in the final

The CSA T20 Challenge has just concluded with the final in favour of the Titans. Dolphins and Titans were the two teams in the last looking for the league’s title this season. Titans beat the Dolphins by 4 wickets in the final to lift the title.

Dolphins won the toss in the final match and elected to bat first against the Titans. Batting first, Dolphins made 162 runs in 20 overs, losing three wickets. Keegan Petersen and JJ Smuts completed their half-centuries in the first inning of the game. Keegan scored 63 runs off 51 balls while JJ scored 69 runs off 50 balls. Jason Smith played 21(7) and Andile Simelane played 8(11). Grant Roelofsen, an opener of the Dolphins, was a golden duck in the game.

Bowling against the Dolphins, the Titans used seven bowlers. Ayabulela Gqamane, Neil Brand and Dayyaan Galiem were the three bowlers from the Titans to take wickets against the Dolphins. They all took a wicket each for the team. The Titans conceded an extra run to Dolphins during their bowling.

Titans while chasing the target of 163 runs made 165/6 in the second inning. Donavon Ferreira was the high scorer for the team, scoring 40 runs off 25 balls. Theunis de Bruyn and Dayyaan Galiem made 32 runs each while Dayyaan played a not-out inning for the team. Jiveshan Pillay and Neil Brand made 18 runs each. Sibonelo Makhanya, the captain of the Titans, made 13 runs. Dewald Brevis made 2 runs.

Bowling against the Titans, the Dolphins used six bowlers. Daryn Dupavillon and JJ Smuts took double wickets each for the team while Prenelan Subrayen took a wicket in the game. Dolphins conceded 10 extra runs to the Titans during their bowling.

The match was played in Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Titans have won the tidal of the CSA T20 Challenge Season 2022/23 which is its seventh title win of the league.
