In a thrilling clash between India and Sri Lanka during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer left cricket enthusiasts in awe with his incredible feat. Shreyas Iyer, who entered the crease at number four following Shubman Gill’s dismissal, wasted no time and displayed a remarkable show of power-hitting.
The highlight of his performance came when he smacked the longest six of the tournament during the 36th over, bowled by Kasun Rajitha. Standing tall against a widish delivery, Iyer unleashed his striking prowess and sent the ball soaring down the ground for an astonishing 106 meters. This extraordinary feat not only propelled his team’s score but also placed him at the top of the list for the longest sixes in the tournament.
Surpassing Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, who had earlier delivered a 104-meter six against New Zealand in Dharamsala, Iyer’s colossal hit showcased his ability to clear the boundaries with ease. Other notable players on the list of the tournament’s longest sixes include Shreyas Iyer himself, with a 101-meter shot against Afghanistan, Fakhar Zaman’s 99-meter six against Bangladesh, and David Warner’s 98-meter hit against Pakistan.
At the time of writing, India’s scoreboard stood at 293/5 in 43.4 overs, reflecting a competitive and exciting match between the two teams.
