Glenn Maxwell lit up Major League Cricket 2025 with a breathtaking century against Los Angeles Knight Riders in Match 8, played on June 17. Leading from the front, the Washington Freedom skipper smashed 106 runs, guiding his team to a massive total and eventually to a 113-run victory — one of the biggest wins in MLC history.
Captain’s Knock Under Pressure
Batting first, Maxwell anchored the innings after a steady start. He took his time in the beginning but exploded towards the end. His final score of 106 off just 50 balls included:
- Brutal power-hitting in the last 10 overs
- Multiple sixes and boundaries
- Smart strike rotation early on
- A calculated approach as captain
Maxwell himself described the innings:
“I gave myself a chance… being captain, you feel that responsibility. I invested in my first 20 balls, and it paid off. I had 155–160 in mind, but we ended up getting more. It felt good to control the game like that.”
Washington Freedom’s Total Too Much for LAKR
Thanks to Maxwell’s explosive innings, Washington posted a massive total that LAKR could not even come close to chasing. The bowlers backed it up brilliantly, dismissing the Knight Riders for a low total and sealing a dominant 113-run win.

With this victory, Washington Freedom has made a big statement in MLC 2025. Glenn Maxwell’s leadership, experience, and unmatched power-hitting proved crucial in a commanding all-round performance.
