The West Indies cricket team has hit a new low in their 2025 tour of England, suffering a brutal 6-0 whitewash across ODIs and T20Is. Once a mighty force in world cricket, the Windies looked like a shadow of their former self—clueless with the bat, toothless with the ball, and outclassed in every department.
It All Began with 0-3 ODI Whitewash
The carnage began in the first ODI at Birmingham, where England piled up a monstrous 400/8. In reply, West Indies folded for 162 in just 26.2 overs, losing by 238 runs—one of their heaviest ODI defeats in recent history.
Things slightly improved in the second ODI at Cardiff. Batting first, West Indies put up a decent 308, but getting to 312/7, England ended up chasing the target with 7 balls and 3 wickets to spare.
The third ODI at The Oval, reduced to 40 overs due to rain, was another forgettable day. West Indies scored 251/9, but England chased it down effortlessly in just 29.4 overs, winning by 7 wickets (DLS method) with more than 60 balls left.
ODI Stats Summary:
- Joe Root (ENG): 267 runs in 3 innings | Avg: 133.50
- Keacy Carty (WI): 154 runs in 3 innings | Avg: 51.33
- Adil Rashid (ENG): 9 wickets | Avg: 17.00
- Alzarri Joseph (WI): 7 wickets | Avg: 21.71
Root’s sublime form and Rashid’s consistent strikes dismantled any resistance West Indies could offer.
T20I Series: England Too Strong, Again
If fans expected a T20 turnaround, they were sorely disappointed. England continued their ruthless approach in the shorter format, handing West Indies three more defeats.
In the first T20I, England’s 188/6 was enough to seal a 21-run win as West Indies limped to 167/9. The second T20I was closer—West Indies scored 196/6, but England chased it in 18.3 overs, thanks to Jos Buttler and Harry Brook.
The final T20I was a complete beatdown. England blasted 248/3, and despite a decent start, West Indies couldn’t keep up, finishing at 211/8, losing by 37 runs.
T20I Stats Summary:
- Jos Buttler (ENG): 165 runs | Avg: 55.00
- Rovman Powell (WI): 126 runs | Avg: 63.00
- Luke Wood (ENG): 5 wickets | Avg: 11.20
- Liam Dawson (ENG): 5 wickets | Avg: 19.40
Even in patches where Windies looked competitive, they lacked the killer instinct to finish games. England’s all-round strength exposed every weakness in the Caribbean camp.
Time for Some Serious Soul-Searching
This tour was nothing short of a disaster for West Indies. No wins, no standout performances (except from Carty and Powell), and no signs of progress. Their batting collapsed under pressure, bowling lacked fire, and fielding was often second-rate.
