The cricketing fraternity is in a buzz as the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner, with Pakistan hosting the coveted tournament. The tournament starts on February 19 in Karachi, where Pakistan will take on New Zealand in the first match. But before the first ball is delivered, everyone’s attention will be in Lahore, where an extravagant opening ceremony will be held on February 16 at the historic Diwan-e-Aam, Lahore Fort. The event is bound to be a celebration of cricket, culture, and friendship.

The Champions Trophy 2025 live opening ceremony, which will get underway at 6:30 PM PKT, will boast a glittering lineup. Top singer Atif Aslam will sing the official anthem of the tournament, providing a musical highlight to the night. The event will also witness a panel discussion with cricket greats, sharing insights and memories about the game. The cream of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) officials, along with other special guests, will adorn the event, which will be a night to remember.
Although the ceremony will not be televised, cricket fans all over the world can view the live streaming on Pakistan Cricket’s official YouTube channel. This way, cricket fans from all over the world can be a part of the celebration.
The competition itself consists of eight teams placed in two groups. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B consists of Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. The two teams from each group with the highest points will move on to the semifinals. Pakistan, who are the champions, will be hoping to hold on to the title on their home ground.
Teams have already started arriving at their respective destinations. Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, and Afghanistan are based in Karachi, while Bangladesh and India have arrived in Dubai. India’s campaign will start on February 20 with a game against Bangladesh in Dubai.
As the countdown to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 begins, the live opening ceremony in Lahore is set to set the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable tournament.
