Zimbabwe Cricket Launches Player Development Programme in Collaboration with T10 Global Sports and Lahore Qalandars

Zimbabwe Cricket, in collaboration with T10 Global Sports and Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars, has announced the launch of the Player Development Programme in Zimbabwe. This initiative aims to provide young players with the opportunity to participate in the inaugural Zim Afro T10 league.

In an official press release, Zimbabwe Cricket stated, “As part of this exciting collaboration, Zimbabwe Cricket will be conducting its inaugural player development program (PDP) in Zimbabwe with the aim of identifying promising players who have the potential to become future stars of the game.”

The programme will involve trials, offering a unique platform for aspiring cricketers in Zimbabwe to showcase their skills and compete for a chance to feature in the inaugural Zim Afro T10 league. The tournament will introduce a franchise model and feature teams such as Harare Hurricanes, Durban Qalandars, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves, and the Joburg Lions. All matches will take place in Harare, with the tournament commencing on July 20 and the final scheduled for July 29.

The player’s draft for the league will be conducted on July 2 in a grand ceremony held in Harare. T10 Global Sports, in close collaboration with Zimbabwe Cricket and Lahore Qalandars, will ensure the smooth execution of the trials and provide comprehensive support to the selected players throughout their journey.

Givemore Makoni, the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed his enthusiasm for the Emerging Player Program, stating, “The Emerging Player Program is a great initiative for Zimbabwean cricket, and I am excited to be partnering with T Ten Global Sports in this. It’s a fantastic platform for some of the best young cricketers in the country.”

Nawab Shaji-ul-Mulk, Chairman and Founder of T Ten Global Sports, emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for young players, saying, “While we like to see the best international cricketers entertain the fans all over the world, I felt the young players must get their time in the sun. We want to see the best cricketers from the Zimbabwean system come out and leave a lasting impression on the senior pros and the fans.”

Sameen Rana, Chief Operating Officer of Lahore Qalandars, expressed delight at joining forces with T10 Global Sports and Zimbabwe Cricket, stating, “We are delighted to join hands with T10 Global Sports and Zimbabwe Cricket in our quest to unearth exceptional cricketing talent. Lahore Qalandars has always been committed to nurturing young players and providing them with the opportunities they need to succeed.”

The collaboration between these cricketing bodies not only aims to discover and develop talented players in Zimbabwe but also provides a pathway for aspiring cricketers to represent their country at the highest level. Through similar initiatives, Lahore Qalandars has previously nurtured promising players such as Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Zaman Khan, who went on to make their mark in the Pakistan Cricket Team.

This collaboration signifies the start of a new phase in the quest to uncover exceptional talent, as Lahore Qalandars expands its talent hunt program beyond Pakistan’s borders.
