Babar dropped to no.3 after poor performances in Asia Cup

In the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Player Rankings, Pakistan batsman, Babar Azam has been dropped to no.3 in the T20I rankings. Pakistan captain, Babar Azam failed to produce any dominant performances in the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Aiden Markram jumps in front of Babar Azam to claim second place in a tight battle for top billing.

Babar Azam scored 10 runs against India, 9 against Hong Kong, and 14 in the second match against India. He scored a duck in the fifth match while playing against Afghanistan. While playing the dead rubber against Sri Lanka Babar Azam scored 30 runs. He was able to score only 5 runs in the final of the Aisa Cup against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Pakistan veteran Mohammad Rizwan maintained his lead at the head of the T20I batter rankings with 810 points. Aiden Markram claimed the second position with 792 rating points. Indian star Virat Kohli and Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga are rewarded for their performances at the Asia Cup.

Kohli scored his first international century in almost three years and scored an impressive 276 runs at the Asia Cup. He improved a total of 14 spots to 15th overall on the T20I batter rankings due to his efforts. Hasaranga jumped to sixth on the bowler rankings and to fourth on the all-rounder list after he was crowned Player of the Tournament at the Asia Cup.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is the new No.1 ranked T20I all-rounder.  Mohammad Nawaz moved up seven spots to 34th and was among the biggest movers after strong performances at the Asia Cup.
